Sardine & Broth Joint Licks
A slow, soothing lick with a joint-friendly twist. Gelatin-rich bone broth fills the bowl, and a sardine and pumpkin spread fills the grooves, so older pups and active dogs get a tasty boost while they lick.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup low-sodium bone broth (no onion or garlic)
- 1 sardine packed in water, no salt added, drained
- 2 tbsp plain pumpkin purée (not pie filling)
Method
- Mash the sardine and pumpkin together with a fork until it's a smooth, spreadable paste.
- Spread the paste across the textured part of the lick bowl mat, pressing it into the grooves.
- Pour the bone broth into the bowl in the centre of the mat.
- Set the mat flat in the freezer for 2 to 3 hours, until the broth is frozen.
- Serve on the floor and supervise. Pop the mat in the dishwasher or wash it in warm soapy water afterwards.
Why it's good for them
Bone broth brings gelatin and collagen, and sardines add omega-3 fatty acids, both popular picks for supporting healthy joints. The slow lick is soothing too. If your dog has joint concerns, ask your vet about the right supplements.
Storage
Make a few mats ahead and keep them frozen for up to a month. Sardines are rich, so stick to one per serving for a medium dog and adjust for size.
