Heart Treat Mold

Ingredients

  • Plain unsweetened yogurt (check the label: no xylitol or sweeteners)
  • Dehydrated beet powder, or cooked beet purée
Pantry safety check: no xylitol, grapes, raisins, onion, garlic, chocolate or macadamia nuts. Always check labels on broths and nut butters.

Method

  1. Make your beet: dehydrate beets and grind them into a powder, or boil them until soft and purée until smooth.
  2. Mix the beet into the yogurt until it's evenly pink.
  3. Pour the mixture into the Heart Mold, filling each heart to the fill line.
  4. Freeze until completely solid, about 2 hours.
  5. Pop one out and serve. Each heart snaps in half along the built-in break line for smaller portions.

Why it's good for them

Yogurt's live cultures support digestion, and beets add fibre and natural colour.

Storage

Keep frozen in a sealed bag or container. Heads up: beets can tint your dog's poop pink or red for a day or so. That's normal.
