Feeding & enrichment

What does a slow feeder do?

A slow feeder has ridges and mazes that make your dog work around them to reach their food. Fast eaters slow down, and mealtime becomes a brain game instead of a race. Our slow feeders work with kibble, wet food and raw diets.

What are lick mats and snuffle mats for?

Both tap into your dog’s natural instincts. Lick mats are spread with something tasty, like yogurt, pumpkin or wet food, and licking is a calming, focused activity. Snuffle mats hide kibble or treats in fabric pockets so your dog sniffs and forages for them. They’re great for boredom, rainy days and busy brains.

Why use a raised dog feeder?

A raised feeder brings the bowls closer to your dog’s height, so they can eat with better posture and less bending, which many taller and older dogs find more comfortable. Our adjustable elevated feeder comes with 3-inch, 5-inch and 10-inch legs, so it grows with your pup.

How do I choose the right feeder height?

A good starting point is to have the top of the bowl sit around the bottom of your dog’s chest when they’re standing. If your dog has a medical condition or you have a large or deep-chested breed, check with your vet about what’s best for them.

Can I make homemade treats with your molds?

Absolutely. Our bake-and-freeze treat molds, popsicle molds and topper molds are made for homemade frozen and baked treats. For recipe ideas, visit The Mutts Pantry, where every recipe links to the mold, mat or toy that makes it.

Materials & care

What are Messy Mutts products made of?

Most of our feeding and enrichment products are made from food-grade silicone and stainless steel, and they’re BPA-free and PVC-free.

Are Messy Mutts products dishwasher safe?

Most of our silicone and stainless steel products can go in the dishwasher. Check the care instructions on each product page, since some items, like water bottle lids and microfiber products, have their own care steps.

What is Advanced BioRecycle™ Technology?

It’s the technology behind our newest poop bags. Each bag is designed for durability and leak-proof performance and is treated with an organic food additive that accelerates the bag’s breakdown in landfill.
