Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cooked, unseasoned chicken, finely chopped (or canned salmon in water, drained)
  • 1/2 cup oat flour
  • 1 egg
  • 2 to 4 tbsp water or low-sodium broth (no onion or garlic)
Pantry safety check: no xylitol, grapes, raisins, onion, garlic, chocolate or macadamia nuts. Always check labels on broths and nut butters.

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 175°C (350°F) and set both Mini Treat Maker trays on a baking sheet.
  2. Blend the chicken, oat flour and egg until smooth. Add water or broth a spoonful at a time until it's a thick, spreadable batter, like thick yogurt.
  3. Spoon the batter onto the trays and spread it with a spatula, pressing it into the little bones. Scrape off the extra so each bone sits on its own.
  4. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until firm and lightly golden. For extra crunch, turn off the oven and leave the trays inside for another 20 to 30 minutes.
  5. Let them cool completely, then flex the silicone to pop the bones out.
  6. Use them for training, or drop a handful into a Totally Pooched Stuff'n Wobble Ball and let your dog nose and roll it to earn every bite.

Why it's good for them

Small, single-bite rewards keep training fun and fast. With one simple protein, it's easy to know exactly what your dog is getting.

Storage

Keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 3 months and grab a handful before each session. Remember that training treats count toward your dog's daily food.
